Loveing Our Lives Down Under

Sorry for the lack of blogging- we have been having wayyy to much fun. We have already learned so much since we got here last week and we are loving every minute of it. We are staying in a small town that is located on Murray river which is the largest river in Australia. We have met the whole town already and everyone is unbelievably sweet. They have made us feel incredibly welcome and we already feel like locals.

We have been helping out on the farm- which we surprisingly really enjoy a lot! There are a ton of fruit frees, vegetable gardens and amazing flowers. We've also helped feed the goats and chickens that are on the property.

A few nights ago, we went to a neighbors house and had our first taste of kangaroo. It tastes a bit gamey, but reminds us of  venison back at home. We also went off roading in search of kangaroos-We saw 5 in the distance (it was awesome!) we also saw their dog catch a running hare in its mouth in midair.. totally national geographic.

Yesterday we ran some errands and then had a relaxing afternoon by the river. We were able to get a fun boat ride, went tubing (they call it seabiscuit), had a barbeque, a bonfire, just an awesome day. We made kale salad to shockingly find that Aussies don't eat kale... they think its rabbit food-Haaaa. There was a lot of the locals there that were fun to talk to! We are still trying to pick up on some of their slang, but it makes it really funny. By the bonfire, we taught everyone how to makes s'mores since everyone has been teaching us traditional Australian meals (tim tam slams, vegemite, promite, pies, so many yummy things!) However, while toasting marshmallows one of the neighbors said to me "watch out dear your thongs on fire".. in my head I was like "wow, that's bold for someone I just met to say but thankful" then by reaction, felt the back of my jeans to check and make sure my underwear wasn't on fire... butttt guess a thong means flip flops here.. we'll catch on sooner than later. suppose:)



Today we saw our first snake in the driveway... um yeah, no thank you- they're very unpleasant. Sarah boldly enough drove us into town- wayta go Sarah! Its funny driving on the other side of the road but her and grace are getting a hold of it (they said I have to earn my privileges since I'm not the best driver ever.. I understand)
