By 10am, we were in Melbourne. Our first stop was at Hoiser Lane which is a block dedicated to graffiti artists. This was Gracie's favorite and I can understand why. Usually when one thinks of graffiti they think something that looks trashy on the side of a building or rubbish bin. However, this is true artists displaying their abilities. Some of the things we saw were just incredibly amazing. We saw a bunch of professional photographers there as well trying to capture the unique beauty.
We also explored Federation Square. While there, we saw a hilarious comedy show, went to the Moomba festival (which was a cute little carnival), visited the national art centre and went to the 88th floor of Eureka Skydeck. Eureka Skydeck was my favorite part of Melbourne. It is the highest view deck in the Southern Hemisphere. It was truly amazing. We were able to see the whole city of Melbourne and then some. We of course, took a lot of pictures and even some photo booth photos (hilarious).
After spending some quality time in the heart of the city, we visited Harbour Town and had lunch by the water. We saw were channel 7 news in Melbourne is filmed, Melbourne city marina, and quaint shops.
All around, we enjoyed Melbourne's clean, modern look. We were shocked that there wasn't more people around for a Saturday. However, we admit that we are used to Boston and NYC that are both wayyyy over crowded and well... Dirty. It's a great city and we'd definitely visit again. It has great, creative and colorful buildings. It's also very thoughtful, like having a shower for cyclists in the car park...
Tonight, Grace and I went to an Italian restaurant for dinner. After great food, sparkling wine and tiramisu we managed to find our way back to our hotel. Now, we are snuggling in bed, wearing our courtesy hotel slippers, drinking wine and watching dancing with the stars. We are happy ladies. Tomorrow, Sydney- woohoo!!
