Sunset cruise

Grace and I have been dying to see the sunset over the Sydney Harbour. We were thinking of potentially taking the ferry during sunset to get the full effect. However, while googling which ferry we should take and when, we unintentionally stumbled across a dinner cruise. Since that sounded much more appealing than fighting with others to get on the ferry, we knew we needed to do it. 

Since it was mid-week, we found a great deal. Dinner, endless wine or beer and a show. Yessss. On the way to the ferry, we noticed that there was a huge fire to the right of us. Roads were closed and the streets were covered with firemen, police, ambulance, helicopters and smoke. Come to find out, a casino had caught on fire. The joke was that we "walked through fire" to get to our romantic dinner with one another. 

When we arrived at the wharf, these two older men (one on a wheel chair, and one pushing it), came over to us. I thought they were gay but Grace thinks they were trying to pick us up. Anyways, they said "we are in a debate and you need to solve it for us. We saw you two walking and he (pointing to the other guy) thinks you're from Australia and I think you're from Canada". We laughed and Grace said "you're both wrong, we're from the states." After talking to them for a while, they were actually really funny, he told us that he was once a backpacker and loved it. After giving us some "backpacking advice", he reached in his bag and have us a $60 bottle of white wine. When we tried to decline, he told us that we deserved it more than he did. He said he knows how it is to be a backpacker and now has money so we shouldn't feel bad taking it. So, we took it. And we're planning on drinking it later on....

When we got onto the cruise, they were playing romantic music. Surrounding us were couples in love and groups of people out for a celebration. We realized it was our 3rd month in Australia so we called it "our anniversary dinner". People definitely thought we were lesbians. Oh well.

When the sunset, we took photos of the city at night. It was the first time we saw the Harbour lit up since we've been there, it was truely spectacular. After a great 3 course meal, 2 bottles of sparkling wine, we watched the show. Despite one old haggard women singer, we were honestly so surprised how good the show was. It was like we were watching "So You Think You Could Dance". 

All around, Grace and I had a lovely date our last night in Sydney.
